Welcome…
On behalf of the board of directors, I would like to welcome back our returning curlers and a big Fort Garry welcome to all the new curlers to the club this year. This year, Fort Garry Curling Club is celebrating our 95th anniversary. This is an amazing accomplishment that we’re proud of. I would like to recognize and thank all members past and present for contributing to the long and rich history the club has.
As we honour our past, your board of directors is focused on the future of the club. Three years ago, the Board started the journey of creating a strategic plan to ensure the long-term success and viability of our club.
With our priorities focused on making capital enhancements to our facility, we have started to make improvements. Lighting throughout the facility has been upgraded to energy efficient LED lighting. We have also purchased a new water filtration system (Reverse Osmosis or RO for short) to improve the quality of the curling ice. Our near-term future plans include replacing furnishings thought the facility, purchasing new curling rocks, and replacing our outdoor sign. As we continue to improve our facility, I invite our members to engage with the board of directors with their thoughts and ideas on how to improve our club.
A big thank you also goes to our club staff; Lori and her bar staff who take care of us so well and Mike and his ice making team who provide us with some awesome ice to play on.
We are always looking for new volunteers to help serve on the board, so if you have a few hours a week to spare, we will never turn down the help! See any of our board members for more information.
Have a great curling season.
